Get Involved

Great cities aren’t built in a day or by a single person.  We need your help to make our cities the best they can be and to ensure our Fellows and alumni are as impactful as possible.  There are many ways to get involved:

Contribute Cash or In-Kind Support

The intensive, comprehensive training we provide Fellows empowers them to be effective, immediate and lifelong change agents.  That training costs us nearly $20,000/Fellow per year.  We rely on the financial support of donors like you.  City Hall Fellows is a project of Community Partners® and contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Don’t have cash to give?  We also greatly appreciate and can utilize a wide range of in-kind contributions such as meeting and event space, meals for events and training sessions, transit passes, airline miles for Fellows’ trips to  Washington DC, printing, graphic design support and video production.

Serve on One of Our Governing Boards

City Hall Fellows is currently seeking to expand our local San Francisco Board (also known as the Friends of Fellows).  We’re seeking community-oriented Board members with a passion for public service, deep roots in San Francisco and the time and capacity to help our program grow.  For more information, to nominate a friend or to apply yourself, please contact info@cityhallfellows.org.

Volunteer to Educate Our Fellows

We strive to connect our Fellows to the true experts in the community – you!  If you’d like to get involved with educating our Fellows about your organization or neighborhood or train our Fellows in skills you are an expert in, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact info@cityhallfellows.org.

Gift Fellows and Alumni Access to Your Organization’s Resources

Our Fellows are able to be most impactful on the community when they understand all facets of it.  They are eager to take advantage of opportunities offered and access to community resources made available to them.  If your organization has events geared towards young professionals, runs a leadership group, engages young professionals in volunteer work or hosts forums relating to the city, urban development or other community issues or provides members-only online resources OR if you are part of a community cultural institution, please consider gifting our Fellows membership, event tickets or access.  To find out how your organization’s resources can help,  please contact info@cityhallfellows.org.

Bring City Hall Fellows to your Community

City Hall Fellows is eager to help more communities find, train and deploy home-grown talent to critical public sector initiatives.  By partnering with us on our core Fellowship program, cities get dedicated, trained squads of motivated public servants who would not have joined local government otherwise. Fellows work on high-need, high-impact municipal initiatives (chosen by you!). A sizeable percentage of Fellows remain in local government for several years post-Fellowship or return after graduate school.  In exchange, we ask our local partners to provide or source funding for their Fellows. Download our one-page city partner overview to learn more about how we collaborate with local partners for our core Fellowship program.

In addition to our core Fellowship program, City Hall Fellows can help cities train promising existing young staff, recruit or train interns or design in-house next generation leadership development and training programs.
