Why San Francisco is important to me: I see this time in San Francisco as an opportunity for professional growth. The city is so dynamic in terms of its cultural makeup, its innovative practices, the collection of global and subject focused organizations it contains, as well as the network of professionals supporting these groups. Operating within the city and these professional circles seemed like the ideal step to take in the development of my career.
Something unique about me: I am a published author in the area of Arctic geopolitics and security, see “The Arctic’s Changing Landscape: Addressing New Maritime Challenges” (CNAS, March 25, 2014). I have also planned and managed events and discussion series on the Arctic, working alongside leading thinkers and executive-level subject experts, including the Oceanographer and Navigator of the Navy, the Senior Ocean Policy Advisor for the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of State Senior Arctic Official, Congressional staff and renowned leaders in the environment and science communities, energy and shipping industry senior representatives, and the Alaskan government. I am certified as a Master Scuba Diver.
